Jan. '23 Collection

Jan. '23 Collection

Hello, everyone! Let's learn a bit about our newest leather for Jan. 2023. Each article is carefully chosen for its color, quality, texture, and durability. Every hide is full grain, veg tan cow leather from a famous Tuscan tannery.

1. Natural Uragano from Conceria Puccini: Uragano is a longtime favorite of mine. Its medium-firm temper allows for great flexibility and the smell is unmistakable. The standout feature of Uragano is a subtle waxy/chalky texture that wears over time to a smooth surface like a river stone. Natural Uragano patinas beautifully to show wear patterns and darkens slightly over time. The natural color readily accepts heat-debossed initials or laser engraving. This article is a standout compliment to other, bolder colors.

2. Emerald Maya from Conceria il Ponte: Maya is one of the most popular leathers that we carry, thanks to its shockingly vibrant colors and cloudy patterning. Maya has a medium-firm temper and flexibility similar to Uragano, making it perfect for watch straps and wallets, and the deep Emerald color works equally well as an accent as for a main feature. You can expect some darkening over time as Maya patinas with use.

3. Anthracite Uragano from Conceria Puccini: Unlike the "natural" color variant, Anthracite does not patina as significantly, but it does break in just as well with use and polish itself somewhat with any friction. Anthracite is my personal preference compared to black, offering varied tones of gray, white, and charcoal.

4. Novello "Koala" from Conceria Puccini: Not made from koala, as the name might suggest, this premium bovine veg tan from Puccini tannery of Tuscany is a mainstay of many of our projects here at T.C. Hall. Standout features are a relatively firm hand, similar to that of Buttero leather, and a mostly matte finish that still allows some shine, especially as it patinas. Novello is a sensual, deep rouge reminiscent of dark red roses or velvet.

5. Cognac Ponte from Conceria Il Ponte: The signature article from Ponte Tannery, Ponte leather is the epitome of Italian luxury. Firm, but with just the right amount of give in the hand, Ponte displays subtle striations and stretch marks, making every product unique. The light brown Cognac color features just a hint of rusty red and shifts hue in different light. Truly some of the best leather that Italy has to offer.

6. Oceano Maremma from Conceria Puccini: Maremma is the only article featured in our January collection to display "pull-up": this means that the leather is hot-stuffed with wax, fats, and oils, to not only produce a noticeably rich leather, but also a shiny surface that only looks better with scratches and dings. The hallmark of "pull-up" leather is a shifting of the colors with every crease and fold. Maremma is a joy to handle, and with such great pull-up, the Oceano colorway morphs like the changing sea, with white foam coming and going in perpetual motion.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading about our newest offerings for the 2023 season. If you would like more information about these articles or would like to see different color options for each, please reach out!
